I’d be very interested to hear from anyone who has memories of growing up in the Hyde Park area of Leeds in the 1930s.

    Hi,
Hope somebody can help with this.
It is my Nana and Grandad’s 60th Wedding Anniversary soon and we wanted to commision a painting of the church where they were married. Unfortunately, they seem to have picked one of the only churches that doesn’t stay the same for a thousand years! None of the wedding photos show the full front of the church either.
The church was called Methodist Chapel and was on accomodation road in Leeds. It was rebult in around 1970 and it is now called Newbourne MC.
Does any one have any photos that we would be able to use?
    Thanks for your help!
    Damien

Guys; my mum Vera Belshaw (89) can add pages of stuff here she just doesn’t know how. And “About” is not very helpful either. She is a prolific contributor to the likes of Down Your Way etc. So how does she get to add articles like those on the other pages? Apologies if this is obvious but I cant see it either. Can someone pls explain, Thanks

Does anyone have any information on John Lyons who was a milkman/ dairyman in this area?We have an early half pint milk bottle with his name and East End Park Leeds on it,but would love to know more. Also does anyone remember Miss Ward who lived at 6 Glensdale Mount until her death c1974.We spent the first three years of our marriage in the house previously occupied by her and have happy memories of being there, which is why we purchased the bottle.Thankyou in anticipation.Jackie Reed.

I’ve got an 6 inch diameter reel of 16mm black and white film from the 1950’s about Ellerby Lane School. Not having the equipment, I’ve not seen it through, although it does feature at the beginning a skeleton in a gown and mortar board. Does anybody know anything about this? I don’t tweet, I don’t blog, and I don’t do facebook.

Hi all. I have just come across this site recently, while researching Devon Street. My Mum and family used to live there before moving to East Park’s (where I came along) and then onto Dent Street, where we lived for years. My mum sadly passed away earlier this year, and would love to know if anyone remembers the Lacy family from Devon Street? John and Ailsa were my grandparents and my Mum was Sylvia, with sisters, Madge, Anne, Rosemary, Doreen and Susan. Many thanks in advance. Martin Lacy
